The Big Moment- A Plot Diagram

Exposition

Last night the boy and I were talking about pregnancy. He asked if it was normal for very pregnant women to sit and stroke their bellies. Having never been pregnant myself, I don't know for sure if I was correct when I told him yes. However, I know that if I were pregnant, I'd probably touch my belly all of the time. This whole conversation led me to make some snide comment about how I would never find out first hand. When he asked why, I told him that at the rate we're going, I'll be past child bearing years when we get married. He took my face in his hands and said, "Our lives together are going to be wonderful. You are going to be so happy with me."

Rising Action
I was sitting at the computer working on some lesson plans. The boy entered the room and kissed my forehead. He got down on one knee and took my hand in his. He looked me in the eye and smiled. He lovingly told me, "I love you, girlfiend, you mean the world to me." My heart started pounding wildly. I waited anxiously to see what would come.

Climax
My stomach was all a-flutter. My mind was racing; the words, "You are going to be so happy with me," echoed in my head as I imagined our first kiss as husband and wife, our sunset wedding on the beach. Overwhelming joy caused my eyes to well up with tears. I held my breath as I watched him thrust his hand into his pocket.

Denouement
Typical. He scratched his nuts, stood up and left the room. Within seconds he released a room-shaking belch.

Resolution
I, the plucky heroine, with my head in my hands, sat silent. Stunned. I queried aloud to no one in particular, "Why do I even bother?"

Ah, the ol' Kneel N' Scratch. But are you sure you weren't also thinking... "Why here?, why now? why not someplace more romantic?" Maybe it was a blessing in disguise. The real proposal might come on the deck of a luxury cruise, or maybe on that big TV thing they have at baseball games. The "boy" has a garunteed "yes" in his hands and he knows it. endless posiblities.
